The good girl who never got the evening off
There was a girl who figured out, very early, what a good day looked like. Shoes by the door. Voice kept low. Plate cleared without being asked. Nobody had to spell it out. She found the rule on her own, the way children do: if I’m good, everything stays all right.
You asked why you still feel like that little girl. Maybe because the rule never heard that she grew up. It still runs your days. It’s there when you apologize for asking a simple question at a store counter, when you tidy the kitchen before you let yourself sit, when someone is upset and the first thing you check is whether it was something you did.
You were born with the Sun in Cancer. Home, and how the people in it are doing, sits very close to the center of you. Of course the girl tuned herself to everyone at home. Caring about the mood of the people she loved wasn’t something forced on her. It was already part of who she was.
The Moon was in Taurus, and a Taurus Moon feels safe when things are calm and steady and stay the way they are. So being good was never only about pleasing anyone. It was how she kept the ground still under her own feet. Your mind still says it in her words: “Don’t make a fuss. Just be easy.”
Notice what happens when you do something a little less than good. You leave the dishes. You say no. You take the bigger piece. Something tightens low in your stomach, an old alarm that doesn’t know what year it is. If you want, close your eyes, let your hands rest palms down, and let your body be open. Feel that place from the inside, with attention, the way you’d sit quietly beside a worried child. If you want to stop, you stop.
Nobody did anything wrong here, not her and not you. She found a way to keep things steady, and it worked well enough that she never had a reason to put it down.
The woman you are now carries her everywhere. Maybe what she’s been waiting for isn’t to be better. Maybe it’s for someone to notice how long she’s been trying.
