The love that gets turned around at the door
Someone tells you that you look lovely, and before the sentence lands you’ve answered: “Oh, this old thing.” Someone offers to cook, and you’re already up, getting the plates. Love coming toward you sets off a small, quick reflex: catch it, hand it back, keep moving.
Giving is a different story. You know what people need before they say it. You remember the hard week, the favorite tea, the date that matters to them. You asked why it’s so easy to give love and so hard to let it in, and maybe the answer starts here: when you’re the one giving, you’re the one holding the door.
The Sun was in Scorpio the day you were born. You love deeply, and you’re careful about who gets close to what’s underneath. Giving lets you love fully while you decide how much of you is seen. Letting love in asks something else. It means standing still while someone looks at you warmly, with no say over what they find.
With the Moon in Virgo, you feel safest when you’re useful: noticing what needs doing, fixing it, making things a little better. So love that comes to you for no reason can feel oddly unsettling, like a bill you haven’t paid. Your mind says: “What did I do to deserve this?” And then it gets busy finding a way to even things out.
Watch the first second when kindness reaches you. A friend’s long hug, a compliment that is plainly meant. There’s often a small tightening in the throat or the chest, as if something in you leaned back. If you want, close your eyes, let your hands rest palms down, and let your body be open. Remember one of those moments and feel that place from the inside, with attention. You don’t have to accept anything or push anything away. If you want to stop, you stop.
None of this means you’re cold or closed. You may be the warmest person in most rooms you walk into. It’s only that the warmth has learned to travel in one direction.
When love comes toward you, there’s nothing you owe it back. It can simply stand near you for a moment, without being sent anywhere.
