The quiet hour nobody else is asking for
Sometimes it happens by accident. Everyone’s out, nobody’s texting, the work is done for once. The house goes still, and instead of relief you feel a small flutter of panic. You find a drawer to sort or someone to check on. Anything but sit inside an hour that belongs to no one else.
You asked: “Who am I when nobody needs anything from me?” It’s an honest question, and a lonely one. It hints that for a long time, the answer to who you are has come from outside, from whoever was asking for something next.
The Sun was in Taurus the day you were born. You’re steady, the one people lean on, the one who stays. Taurus also loves plain good things: warm bread, soft fabric, dirt under the fingernails in spring. Those small pleasures may have been the first to go quiet when everyone else came first. With the Moon in Pisces, you sense what others need almost before they do, and you drift toward it like water finding the low places. Together that makes you very good at being needed, and leaves little silence to hear yourself in.
Your mind fills the silence fast: “I should be doing something useful.” It sounds like duty. Could it be that it’s also a way of not meeting the woman who’s there when the doing stops?
You don’t need a list of questions from a magazine. Maybe two or three of your own, asked slowly. What do I reach for when no one is watching? What did I love before anyone counted on me? When the house is still, what is the first thing I feel?
Don’t answer them with your head. If you want, close your eyes, let your hands rest palms down, and let your body be open. Ask one of them, then feel your chest and stomach from the inside, with attention. Notice what moves, even if it’s small, even if it’s sad. If you want to stop, you stop.
The one who’s there when nobody needs anything isn’t someone you have to build. She’s been under all the helping the whole time, just a little out of practice at being seen.
